Dear Eastside Family,
We would like to share with you the following letter from Pastor Jeremy:

Dear Eastside Church Family,
With a heavy heart, I write to you to share the news that as of May 5, 2023, I will be stepping down as Lead Pastor of Eastside Church. I assure you that much prayer and consideration has gone into this decision, and it was not made lightly.

In 2018, God called me to serve at Eastside Church, and over the last five years my family and I have been blessed by our ministry and the relationships we have built. We have shared many joys and challenges that life and ministry bring: celebrating Eastside’s 10-year anniversary, saying goodbye to friends and family, welcoming new friends and family, navigating a global pandemic, and launching an online presence, just to name a few. Now, God is leading me in a new direction, and it is the right time for my family and me to take the next steps. This decision involved much prayer as Michele and I have been walking down this path with the Lord for clarity and direction for many months. We have earnestly sought the Lord’s guidance for ways in which I can continue to utilize my gifts of empathy, compassion, and wisdom to support others. I am therefore pursuing a career in Christian counseling.

On behalf of my family, I can truly say that the wonderful people of Eastside Church have blessed our lives immensely, which makes this decision incredibly difficult. However, as hope I have made clear through my years serving Eastside, when God leads, we must be obedient to follow. Obedience is always the best and healthiest way forward, even when we may not understand all the details. I will be forever grateful for the Eastside family and will miss this congregation greatly.

This past week I have had the emotionally difficult task of sharing this decision with the Eastside Leadership Team, Genesis Conference of the Free Methodist family of churches, and Eastside staff. Since this decision is unexpected and shocking, I am writing to you and will speak to the congregation on Sunday to give further explanation, as it is difficult to process information of this nature upon first hearing it.

My last Sunday at Eastside will be Sunday, April 30, 2023. My official last day will be May 5, 2023, so I can tie up any loose ends to make the transition smoother. More details about the pastoral transition will be coming from the Leadership Team and Genesis Conference. I am confident that Eastside Church is in good hands with the Eastside Leadership Team, Genesis Conference, Pastor Kathryn, and Alex Horvath.

Know that I am praying for the next pastor who will continue to move Eastside Church forward into a wonderful new chapter. I trust that God has a perfect plan, and He will continue to lead, move, and provide into the future.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13

In Christ’s Love,
Pastor Jeremy

We appreciate and love the Kelly’s and all they have done for Eastside even though we are greatly sad to see them leave. We as a leadership team support them in their next steps and pray that God continues to bless them going forward. We also continue to trust our God of unfailing love with this next chapter for Eastside and lean into where He is leading us. We invite you to join us in celebration of the Kelly’s on a date soon to be announced.

With Love,
Tim Holt, Havalah Lowery, and Shawn Ritchie
