Who We Are

Our vision, beliefs and leadership

Our Vision

Our vision is to be a church that looks, lives and loves like Jesus. We work to fulfill the Great Commandment to love God and our neighbor on the Eastside of Rochester and beyond.

Our Mission

Our mission is to grow life changing relationships with God and neighbor as we “Reach, Teach, Mend and Send.”

Our Affiliation

Eastside Church is part of the Free Methodist family of churches with 1000 churches across the USA and 10,000 churches globally in over 80 countries – a church family that gives us freedom to pursue ministry in the manner God leads us, but also gives us the networking necessary to maximize our ministry.

Fellowship and meet our New Pastor!

We are overjoyed to announce that after a season of pastoral search, God has answered our prayers for a new pastor!

For it says in Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” God has kept His promises, for He has brought us Christ-centered dynamic speakers, strong leadership, and a faithful congregation throughout this journey.

Our Leadership Team is humbled to introduce to you, Pastor Jeremy J. Kelly as the new Lead Pastor of Eastside Church.  Pastor Jeremy came to us from Pearce Memorial Free Methodist Church.  He is an ordained elder in the Genesis Conference of the Free Methodist Church.  He is a passionate spiritual leader and brings home years of ministry experience in Adult Discipleship, Small Group Ministry, Pastoral Care, and Leadership Development.

Please join us on this new journey with our Lead Pastor and his beautiful family.  Welcome everyone!

In Christ,
Eastside Church Leadership Team

What We Believe

  • There is only one God – The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • The Bible contains all the truth that we need to succeed in our families, in our relationships, at work, and in all that we encounter in life.
  • Everyone is born with a natural inclination to sin.
  • Whoever believes in Jesus and seeks forgiveness will have eternal life.
  • Life transformation begins when we follow Jesus.
  • God gives every person gifts, abilities and experiences that can be used to help others.
  • God empowers us to live a life that becomes increasingly more like Jesus.

Eastside Policies

Policy for Promotion of Ministry Events

Our announcements will be focused on Eastside owned/sponsored projects and projects of those mission organizations that we partner with: The Advent House, The Perinton Food Shelf, Andrea and Mike Green in Argentina, and Eden Reforestation in Haiti. Information regarding other ministry opportunities may be shared with our administrator (admin@eastsideroc.com) who will give consideration to sharing these with our Eastside family through social media opportunities.

Budget Guideline

We will strive to operate on 80% of our budget to ensure we can give away 20% in ways that live out God’s heart for the eastside of Rochester and beyond. It is also a suggested guideline that the total of salaries and benefits will not exceed 50% of overall spending

Leadership Team Policy

Eastside Church will fulfill all Book of Discipline (Free Methodist Church of North America) as well as state and federal requirements with the following policy for our Leadership Team:

  • The Leadership Team will consist of the Lead Pastor plus six persons elected to a three year term.
    • Standing members of the Leadership Team must be renominated to be eligible for an additional term, up to the six year term limit.
    • After stepping off for at least one year, it is permissible for a person to return to the Leadership Team.
  • This Leadership Team will serve as the only administrative board of Eastside Church.
  • Any functions requiring support beyond the Leadership Team (such as a Property/Building Committee) will be fulfilled by the use of a Task Force that will:
    • Be appointed by the Leadership Team for a specific task and a specific timeline.
    • Include at least a member of the Leadership Team.
  • The Leadership Team will process all nominations for the ensuing year, with each member being given the power to veto any nomination that he or she does not feel rises to the level of biblical requirements for leadership at Eastside (as spelled out in our Leadership Team Covenant).
  • The Leadership Team will nominate only the available number of positions needed, and call for a vote of affirmation by the Eastside Ministry Partners which will be conducted online through our website.
  • The Leadership Team will function as a leadership board as opposed to a management board, responsible for policy and budget allowing the lead pastor to manage ministry functions through the ministry team

Core Values

  • Reach God’s cherished missing on the eastside of Rochester and beyond – We value life changing relationships with God and neighbor. Our commitment is to go to places no one is going, to reach people no one is reaching, with a willingness to love everyone and serve anyone.
  • Teach believers to fully love God and neighbor – We value life changing relationships with God and neighbor that teach us to better look, live and love like Jesus.  Our commitment is to create communities where we connect, protect and grow by exploring the truths of Scripture, praying for one another, and applying God’s Word to daily life.
  • Mend broken lives – We value life changing relationships with a joyful hope in God’s unfailing love that is not defined by barriers and boundaries. Our commitment is to help people experience freedom and healing from life’s hurts, habits and hang-ups through the work of the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and community.
  • Send disciples into ministry – We value service to God and others through acts of kindness with passion for one and compassion for all.  Our commitment is to live for something greater than ourselves by unleashing God’s people as we offer living proof of a loving God to a watching world.
