joyful

This week I'm preaching on why we sometimes feel too tired to experience worship as "joyful" — and why that's actually a posture problem, not an energy problem. I'll use my old Sperrys as the picture: you don't wait for a shoe to fit before you wear it, you wear it until it does. Walking through Psalm 100, I want us to feel that "know that the Lord is God" (yada — experiential knowing) is the most liberating line in the psalm: he is God, and I am not. My core point is that when we're too exhausted to worship, it's often because we've been worshipping ourselves — trying to sustain what only God can sustain — and the way out isn't waiting to feel it, but worshipping anyway and letting that reshape us.
